The Section of Hospital Medicine and Outreach is staffed by pediatricians who have chosen hospital medicine as their specialty.

Pediatric hospitalists care for acutely ill children on the pediatric inpatient units at Diamond Children's Medical Center (at University Medical Center) and at TMC 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We also care for well newborns while they are in the hospital and provide circumcision services throughout the city of Tucson.

In addition to providing hospital-based care for children, the University Pediatric Hospitalists are actively involved in outreach programs. These include 24 hour a day phone consultative services to physicians and other providers throughout Arizona. We also assist with programs designed to support physicians and other providers and patients throughout Southern Arizona by facilitating ready access to pediatric specialists, disseminating continuing education information, and providing clinic coverage for vacations or illness.
