Biography:
Where are you from?
San Antonio, TX
What are your personal interests/hobbies?
BBQing, cooking, reading and cinema. I particularly enjoy Sci-Fi and historical films
What are your professional interests?
Academic medicine, General Pediatrics and Newborn Nursery
Why did you choose UA Peds?
I wanted a diverse population with the opportunity to continue working on border, Latino, and refugee health. One of the major draws of the program was also the size of the program and the opportunity to work with a Native American population. I love the fact that can continue to use my Spanish speaking ability to help further the medical care of many of our patients.
What is your favorite thing about Tucson?
People, food, weather and natural beauty! Okay that's four things but honestly the people of Tucson are warm and kind. The mountains are gorgeous with beautiful Saguaro cacti, ocotillos in full bloom and occasionally the soothing monsoons. Plus being a UNESCO city of Gastronomy is pretty awesome! Only 2 in the US and both are my homes, San Antonio and Tucson!
What are your non-medical goals during residency?
I have been trying to learning penmanship and hand lettering. I have no manual artistic ability and I don't want to be the doctor with chicken scratch for handwriting!
If you could have a superpower- what would it be?
I would want the ability to fly. I am not the most comfortable with flying and if I could fly I could finally get over it!!! Maybe.
