Horace W. Steele Endowed Chair in Pediatric Research
Our dedicated faculty take care of thousands of sick children in Southern Arizona and around the state, providing general pediatric and subspecialty services. Our faculty take care of children at the University of Arizona Medical Center - Diamond Children's, Tucson Medical Center, Northwest Hospital and outpatient clinics throughout Tucson. Moreover, our faculty hold specialty clinics in rural areas throughout Arizona.
Our faculty teach medical students through our clerkship program, and each year, 16 young doctors come to the UA as pediatric residents, and three begin the Combined Emergency Medicine/Pediatrics Residency Program. During their years of training, resident physicians work alongside our faculty members and community pediatricians.
Moreover, we offer fellowship programs in pediatric endocrinology and pediatric pulmonology medicine.
Finally, our faculty physician-scientists and researchers are improving children's health through the UA Steele Children's Research Center, the research arm of the department. Steele Center researchers and physician-scientists are committed to advancing medical knowledge through basic science and translational research to help improve the health of Arizona's children and children throughout the world. And, we train graduate students, post-docs and fellows who are interested in pediatric medical research careers.
