Garrett TewsGarrett Tews, 7, has a big heart for hospitalized children.

For the third year in a row, Garrett has collected teddy bears and other stuffed animals to give to patients at the University of Arizona Medical Center-Diamond Children’s and Tucson Medical Center.

Garrett has collected more than 200 stuffed animals from various businesses around town. He will donate a portion of them to UAMC-Diamond Children’s, 1501 N. Campbell Ave., on Monday, Dec. 22, at 10 a.m.

“I want every patient to have a new bear or stuffed animal on Christmas morning,” said Garrett.

“This is a special donation,” said Lori Mitts, BS, CCLS, child life manager at Diamond Children’s. “We always are so touched when a child wants to help other children. The teddy bears and stuffed animals Garrett collected will certainly bring a smile to our patients’ faces!”
