Resident Wellness

Resident Wellness

Our program cares deeply about the wellbeing of our trainees, we want our residents to thrive in their training environment, and we recognize that medical training can be exhausting and challenging at times. We take ample opportunities throughout the year to recognize trainees hard work and efforts, and celebrate their wins. Our approach to wellness focuses on giving time and space for fostering personal connections among trainees, so that our residents may build a strong social support networks. Past wellness events have included Pancake Breakfasts hosted by leadership, resident night out, resident lunch out, graduation celebration, new intern welcome event, ice cream socials, book clubs, dinners, happy hours, hikes, group yoga, annual gingerbread house competition, end of block tea, team building activities, and much more.

Cultivating Happiness in Medicine

Banner Health understands that social engagement with your colleagues supports physician well-being and joy.  To this end, periodically throughout the year, funding is available for residents to plan and execute social events of their own choosing with their program colleagues as well as residents and fellows from other disciplines.  Hosted events have included hikes, group painting, mani/pedis and hosted dinners just to name a few.

Partners in Medicine

Residency is a family affair and we know it! Partners in Medicine is an institution-wide program designed to support the non-physician partners of residents and fellows throughout the hospital. It was started by the partner of one of our past Chief Residents! They host a variety of activities including picnics, swim parties and BBQ's for adults and families.
